How to Practice Pool Safety This Summer

As Riverside County heats up, many are heading to pools to cool off. But remember, pool time fun comes with safety responsibilities.

Riverside University Health System – Medical Center (RUHS-MC) stresses the importance of pool safety to prevent drownings in any water source:

·        Have a designated water watcher focused on the pool—no phones, no distractions.

·        Install barriers around pools like gates, fences, and alarms.

·        Enroll kids in swim lessons with certified instructors.

·        Learn CPR and basic first aid.

·        Never swim alone.

Join us: The Splish Splash event is FREE to the public and takes place from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. June 29 at the Cutter Pool at Riverside City College, 4800 Magnolia Avenue, Riverside.

Sponsored by the Vivian Stancil Foundation, the event includes water safety demos, a water aerobics class, vendors, games and food. Non-swimmers and those with disabilities are especially welcome.

Register for this event by visiting: https://bit.ly/RUHS-splash, or register in person on the day of the event between 8-9:30 a.m.
