Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) Research Working Group Lunch
RUHS team members are invited to attend an educational webinar that addresses the connection between stress and smoking cessation.
The webinar, titled, “The Cancer Moonshot: What’s Menthol and Chronic Stress Got to Do with It? Everything” will take place 9 a.m. Nov. 21, 2024. The keynote speaker is Dr. Valerie Yerger, a professor of health policy at the University of California, San Francisco. It will address the following topics:
How chronic stress challenges in smoking cessation can lead to the need for tailored programs.
How chronic stress was integrated into the White House Cancer Moonshot initiative.
How cigarettes in the U.S. marketplace undermine the Cancer Moonshot’s smoking cessation and disparity goals.

Child Safety Seat Check-up Event (MC)
Want to make sure your child is as safe as possible in their car seat? The Medical Center will host this event where car seats and boosters are inspected to make sure they’re installed properly. Appointments are required. Call 800-455-4942. We will need your contact information, the age and weight of your child, and the type of vehicle you drive. Situational Awareness and Threat Response for Healthcare Professionals (MC)
RUHS team members are invited to attend the Situational Awareness and Threat Response for Healthcare Professionals symposium from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 29.
This course is approved for four hours of instructor-based continuing education by California EMS CE provider #33-0006. Attendees will earn four BRN and four EMS continuing education credits. Our law enforcement partners from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will provide an overview international and domestic terrorism and crimes related to both. They will discuss the indicators to watch for and what to report in such events.
The symposium will cover topics related to privacy and public awareness, including HIPAA and suspicious activity reporting (SAR), civil rights and civil liberties, and behavior-based suspicious activity. There will be a strong emphasis on public awareness both within and outside the healthcare community.

12th Annual SAFE/RCCAT Conference

2024 Display and Exhibit Contest
RUHS Medical Center employees, including residents, nurses, providers and ancillary staff are invited to share exciting developments in their field as part of the 2024 Display and Exhibit Contest planned from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Medical Center.
Employees may showcase such topics as healthcare case studies, food and drug research, new technologies, exciting advances in patient care and processes implemented to improve patient care workflows. Some of the accepted formats for displaying this information include trifold displays, poster/easel displays, or presentations from a laptop or monitor. All displays must include a credible reference page.
Participants will have the chance to win a prize. All entries must be received by Tuesday, Aug. 20.
