Yarn Squares Needed For Patient Blankets

Sarah Fredricksen, former RUHS Chaplain who is now retired, is assembling community blankets, with each square made by a community member. The blankets will go to the RUHS Palliative Care Team who will provide the blankets for their patients to keep after they leave the hospital.

“I have seen the positive reactions and comfort these blankets bring to patients,” Fredricksen said. “Just knowing that there are kind people willing to help can help ease their anxiety and loneliness. It also helps form connections between the patients and their care teams which fosters trust and communication.”

The donated pieces can be crochet, knit or woven, made with machine wash/dry, medium (4) weight yarn, and made into an 8” square. All skill levels welcome. No set patterns or colors. No limit to the number of squares donated! If you want to make an entire blanket it would be equally as appreciated. Finished blanket will be (around) 48” X 56”

For staff who would like to donate pieces or blankets, contact Sarah at 951-526-4919 or emailme.srf@gmail.com.
