RUHS Nurses Receive DAISY Awards
Several Riverside University Health System - Medical Center nurses were recognized with DAISY Awards in August and September for their kindness and treatment of patients. The awards, presented by the DAISY Foundation, allow a nurse’s colleagues and patients, and patient family members, to celebrate that nurse for their good work.
Here’s a look at some of the recent award winners and what their nominators had to say about them.
Betzabeth Matus - August
“My uncle is my only uncle, he is very dear to me, and our entire family. During his stay the nurse has stood out as his care provider. All the nurses were great, but this nurse made his smile and made his stay so pleasant. She is very personable and sweet. Her sense of humor was on point too. My uncle lost his leg and wanted to keep a positive outlook. The nurse was right there with him. She joked with him and went along with our practical joke of using a Halloween prop in place of the missing leg. He loved it and it brightened his stay. This nurse is an asset to her team and the patients. We are so glad she was part of his care team. Thank you.”
Jonathan Deato and Maria Valdez - September
“My nephew Ethan was involved in a catastrophic head on collision. Unfortunately, Ethan did not survive. But for two days, we had our amazing angels of nurses Jonathan and Maria. Thank you for helping my family and I through this traumatic event. You were there when we needed you and advocated for us to be involved during any and every decision the MD’s made. We will not forget how hard you two worked when he first arrived. From hanging drips to giving blood, to asking us if we needed anything. I work as a Trauma ICU nurse and have never been on this side of patient care. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jonathan and Maria. My family and I are forever grateful for the kindness and compassion you showed us. This is what nursing is about.”
Congratulations Betzabeth, Jonathan and Maria!
