National Interpreter Appreciation Day is May 3

I would like to thank our 23 RUHS interpreters on National Interpreters Appreciation Day. They provide healthcare language access for our patients, their family members, providers, and RUHS staff. Breaking communication barriers is what they do best. They use their incredible skill set to convey the correct tone and message from one language to another and provide over 30,000 in-person interpreting sessions and perform 250 translation projects every year. I feel honored to work with such a fine group of dedicated individuals who care so much about language access and how it contributes to our overall mission of providing equitable healthcare for our patients. If you see an RUHS interpreter, say “Thank you.”

“Whether or not a text really is a universe unto itself, it is safe to say that it can only ever be as rich as its most sensitive interpreter.”
