Dr. Arnold Tabuenca Set to Retire
After a career spanning decades and numerous achievements as one of RUHS - Medical Center’s top leaders, Associate Chief Medical Officer Dr. Arnold Tabuenca will retire.
RUHS employees are invited to celebrate Dr. Tabuenca during a farewell event from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Magnolia Rooms A&B at the Marion and Mary Ashley Health Education and Conference Center.
Tabuenca worked for decades as a surgeon and Chief Medical Officer for RUHS.
In the 15 years he served as CMO, Dr. Tabuenca achieved major accomplishments, including reducing hospital infection rates by 84% and greatly decreasing sepsis deaths. He helped the hospital become a designated stroke center and the American College of Surgeons verified Level 1 trauma center. RUHS’ Medical Surgical Center was named after Dr. Tabuenca.
Though Dr. Tabuenca stepped down from his post as Chief Medical Officer in 2022, he continued to work and assist the hospital in a variety of important projects in recent years.
